Every release is also published on IPFS, with its ipfs:// address in the release notes, and is available at download.orivonstack.eth.

Windows

Search the Microsoft Store for Orivon Browser, or open it in the Store, and choose Get. Windows 10 version 1809 or newer.

Microsoft signs the package, so there is no SmartScreen warning, and the Store keeps Orivon up to date.

winget

In Terminal or PowerShell:

winget install Orivon.Browser.Preview

Orivon.Browser.Preview is the pre-release channel. A full release will be Orivon.Browser.

Installer (.exe)

Download the Windows installer from the table above and run it. It installs for your user only and needs no administrator.

The installer is not signed with a bought certificate, so Windows SmartScreen shows Windows protected your PC on the first run. To get past it, choose More info, then Run anyway.

macOS

Open Terminal (press ⌘ Space, type Terminal, press Return). Paste this line (⌘ V) and press Return:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OrivonBrowser/orivon-mvp/main/scripts/install-macos.sh | bash

The command:

  1. Picks the build for your Mac, Apple silicon or Intel.
  2. Downloads it and checks its SHA-256 against the digest GitHub reports for the file.
  3. Copies Orivon.app into Applications, or into ~/Applications if Applications is not writable.
  4. Opens Orivon.

It never uses sudo. Gatekeeper shows no prompt, because curl sets no quarantine attribute on what it downloads. Run it again later to update. To read the script first, it is on GitHub.

Disk image (.dmg)

Download the .dmg for your Mac from the table above, open it, and drag Orivon to Applications. The app is signed ad hoc and not notarised, so the first open is refused. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. Later opens work normally.

Linux

Install the .deb with your package manager, or make the AppImage executable and run it. Only the .deb can register Orivon as your default browser.

First launch

On first launch Orivon asks one question: whether to send anonymous usage statistics. Both buttons are equal and neither is preselected. Privacy and your data says exactly what would be sent.

Bring your browser with you

Settings imports bookmarks and history from Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Brave and Firefox, and passwords from a CSV file. Chrome extensions install from the Chrome Web Store as they do in Chrome. See Everyday browsing.

Run from source

On any system with Node.js 22.13 or newer, and nothing else:

git clone https://github.com/OrivonBrowser/orivon-mvp.git
cd orivon-mvp
npm install
npm start # your real profile, as an installed build
# npm run dev # hot reload, on a throwaway profile each launch

No compiler is needed on any system; a check fails the build if a dependency would need one.

Updates

A Microsoft Store install is updated by the Store. On macOS, run the Terminal command again to update.

Otherwise, Orivon can check for a new release and tell you when one is out. The check is off by default and never installs anything: it links to the release page, and you download the new package yourself.
